About us
Travel writing from people who have actually been there.
Tour Articles is an independent travel journal. We publish first-hand stories, practical guides and photographic sequences from the people who made the journey — not from a desk.
Why the journal exists
Most travel writing is produced to be clicked, not to be used. It describes places in adjectives, skips the details that decide a trip, and is often written by someone who has never stood in the crowd, paid the fare or walked the last kilometre.
Tour Articles was started to answer the question that comes before a journey: what is this place actually like, and what should I know before I go? The answer has to come from someone who has been there, and it has to include the practical things that make a difference — the season, the route, the cost, the access, the mistake worth avoiding.
What we publish
The journal is built around places, not around an endless feed. A country holds the destinations inside it; a destination holds the stories written about it. That structure lets a reader move from a rough idea to a specific place to a useful account of what it is like.
- Stories — long-form, first-person accounts of a journey, edited to keep the useful detail and remove the filler.
- Country and destination guides — what is worth travelling to, when to go, and how the place works.
- Tours — described journeys with an itinerary and practical notes. They are written to be understood, not sold.
- Reels — the photographs and clips that belong to a story, arranged as a sequence rather than a separate feed.
How we work
First-hand knowledge is the standard, not a marketing line. We ask contributors for the specifics that make an account credible: when they went, how they travelled, what they paid, who they met and what they would do differently. A piece that cannot carry those details is not ready to publish.
Creators are verified before their work appears, and every story passes through editorial review. We check facts where we can, flag what we cannot verify, and correct mistakes in public rather than quietly rewriting the record. The full rules we ask contributors and readers to follow are in our community guidelines.
Our independence
Editorial decisions are not for sale. We do not accept payment for coverage, and a tour on this site is a description, not a booking. Where a contributor has a commercial relationship with a place, a guide or a business, it must be disclosed in the story. Our promises to readers, contributors and the places we cover are set out in our commitment.
Who it is for
For the traveller who wants to understand a place before arriving. For the reader who enjoys a well-told journey even without a ticket. For the local guide, photographer or writer whose knowledge is worth more than a list of attractions.
Write with us
If you have been somewhere and can tell the reader what it was really like, we would like to read it. Applications to join the studio are open at Write a story. For pitches, questions or corrections, write to hello@tourarticles.com.
